The location is pretty prime here, and you can see a good selection of animals like pelicans, geese, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, and others. Since I’ve already reviewed Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House as a whole, I’m not going to dive deep into the hotel today. In short, we love Animal Kingdom Lodge and recommend it. The location isn’t great, unless you’re focusing on Animal Kingdom, but the hotel is unique, beautiful and has great amenities. Any balloons brought to the resort (from the theme parks, for example) will have to be checked with bell services for the duration of the guest’s stay. This information might be helpful to families with younger children, so there are no disappointments when returning to the resort.

Keep in mind that no matter which savanna you request, you’ll probably want an upper-level room to get one of the best views of the animals. Also, it’s important to note that the savanna view rooms cost extra, and you’ll need to select that particular room category when booking. Complimentary standard self-parking is available for non-resort guests exploring dining, shopping, entertainment, and other experiences during the day. Overall, Animal Kingdom is one of our favorite resorts at Walt Disney World, and Jambo House is our preferred wing of the lodge (over Kidani Village), making it truly the creme de la creme. It’s unrivaled thematically, offers a treasure trove of details to explore, the most well-rounded dining options of any hotel, and is priced below most other Deluxes.

Animal Kingdom Jambo House is a Disney Vacation Club point penny pincher’s dream. At the value room’s low of 8 points per night, this is one of the best DVC bang-for-your-buck rooms you can find. AKV Jambo House is also a DVC point big-spenders dream if you want to go for that club-level concierge experience. Both room types are some of the highest in-demand DVC rooms. If you need something in between, the standard view rooms compare well to other DVC rooms that are of good value. You can stretch your DVC points, you can splurge your DVC points, or you can land in the middle with your DVC points at AKV Jambo House.

There are room layouts below, if you’d like to check them out. You can choose from studios, villas, and even rooms with Club-Level Service. The views are unbeatable and to see African animals roaming, all while staring at a 4 lush savannas is unforgettable. Below is everything you need to know about Jambo House.

Additionally, there are multiple classes of rooms within each size, most notably the savanna view and Kilimanjaro Club. Kidani Village is two long, curved hallways extending from the lobby in the middle, and it’s quite the walk if you’re at the very end. Parking for this resort is located in a garage underground, so you could park relatively close to your room, even if you’re not near the lobby or pool. Next, we’ve got the Arusha Savanna, which you’ll be familiar with if you’ve ever walked out the back of the Jambo House lobby and out into the viewing area. All the rooms that face this savanna are located in Jambo House, which forms a curve around the area.

The design represents an abstract view of Africa, with twin wood-burning ovens as the restaurant’s icon. Jiko consistently ranks among the best Walt Disney World restaurants in both food and service. Express Check-out is available to all guests paying with a credit card, arrange for this service at check-in.

Around the resort, there are four major savanna areas, each with its own name. Pembe Savanna is the smallest of the four on the north side of Kidani Village. It’s the savanna without any giraffes, but you’ll find other animals like impala, waterbuck, red river hogs, ostrich, and okapi there. There’s nothing quite like staying at a Disney World resort!
Throughout the lobby, there are examples of authentic architecture and design, from thatched ceilings to golden tones reflecting the richness and diversity of an African landscape. Rich wood tones surround a large mud fireplace, and natural lighting will celebrate dawn and dusk with features that accentuate spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Click here for current pricing and other parking-related information. Even as the Disney Cast Member guides you around our site, they will be unable to access or view any files or information on your device or anything you type. In a resort where every functional design element also manages to reinforce theme, that’s important.
There was no reason for this to exist where it was, and I can’t imagine many guests hanging out here, but there it was. Something tells me this is not the only such spot hidden down random hallways at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Even setting this aside (which is an odd, arbitrary thing to do), Animal Kingdom Lodge would rank near the top of Walt Disney World’s resorts.
There is less artwork in the room but it’s still a nice space. On the other hand, I loved the decor in the living room. As you see in the photo above, the table and bench are a focal point. Extending the architecture style we see in the lobby into the room with pieces like the bench is a nice thematic choice. I really like the hanging lamps and painted plates by the table as well. The couch is another pull-out and the chair turns into a twin size bed.
For other admission types, theme park reservations may be required. Fortunately, you do not need to pay extra for a better room view to enjoy it. (No one? Just me? Okay, moving on…) Returning back, the savanna was totally dark, but it was still peaceful to go out on our balcony and sit and relax. As we indicated in our Wilderness Lodge v. Animal Kingdom Lodge post, Jambo House is actually closer to every park than Wilderness Lodge, aside from Magic Kingdom. The same would hold true between Jambo House and any monorail loop resort and while I’m not going to run the numbers on every hotel, I’m betting it’s also true of a few others.
A detailed hotel bill is delivered to your door by 7AM. Late Check-out of noon can be requested without additional cost (very limited availability). If you need Late Check-out, request it at Check-In and as soon as possible the morning of check out (the number of eligible rooms are limited). Early check-in allows you to leave luggage with bell services, get your Magic Bands (if you don’t already have them) and head off to the parks or relax around the resort.
Next to Animal Kingdom Lodge is Kidani Village (opened May 1, 2009), a Disney Vacation Club Resort. It shares the Sunset Savanna with Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House and has its own savanna (opened fall 2009) called Pembe. Literally every one of these is B+ quality or better and the diverse lineup offers something for any party or palate.
Disney used to have a service where you were able to purchase items in the parks and then have them delivered to your resort’s gift shop. However, that service has been unavailable for several years now. Even though the front desk is there to assist guests, especially with checking in and checking out, all Disney World Resort guests are encouraged to check-in online or by using MDE.
Many members choose to walk their reservations to get these rooms. Don’t snooze on these DVC rooms because there are only 5 club-level studios and 5 club-level 1-bedrooms at AKV Jambo house. The standard view rooms at AKV Jambo House are the next room type to book up quickly, and savanna view rooms go last. AKV Jambo House is not as large as other DVC resorts so if you really love AKV Jambo House, you do need to own points here to get the most premium DVC rooms.
